MY TESTIMONY
By Dr. Famkima Darlong, The Leprosy Mission Trust India
I come from one of the North-Eastern states of India, a small state of Tripura. I studied at Medical School and completed my postgraduation in Ophthalmology in 1993.
It was during my college days that I accepted the Lord as My Saviour.
I became actively involved with the Union of Evangelical Students of India both as student and student leader. And then became associated with the Evangelical Medical fellowship of India.
It was there I discovered: “My profession is a calling from God for His glory”.
From then on, my wife and I both committed to mission work. That was 25 years ago!
I have now been working with The Leprosy Mission in India for 17 years. At first, I was posted at The Leprosy Mission Hospital in Purulia as Ophthalmologist and as Medical Superintendent.
But most recently, I have taken over as Head of Health Program of The Leprosy Mission Trust India (TLMTI). Presently I oversee the health program of all 14 Hospitals nationally.
My wife, Joydeepa (pictured above), is the Head of Knowledge Management, Training and Research of TLMTI.
Together we also enjoy nurturing medical students spiritually and helping them to realise also that their profession is a calling from God.
And that wherever they work they should be a witness and testimony for God.
As Members of the Evangelical Medical Fellowship of India we are actively involved and visit Christian medical students in various colleges when we can.
Our faith in Christ also inspires us to conduct Bible studies for youths in our home and we are actively involved in leadership with local churches.
We are so grateful to God for the life we had led with Him all these years.
To God be The Glory for the things He has done!
Dr Famkima is traveling around Australia in January and February to help us mark World Leprosy Sunday at events around the country. Please pray for safe and happy travels.
It’s still not too late to hold your own World Leprosy Sunday event. Ask your church to set aside some prayer time in a service between 27 January and 28 April to pray for people affected by leprosy. For prayer cards, audio/ visual or bible study resources, please call us on 1800 537 767 or go to: worldleprosysunday.org.au
