Witness a Medical Breakthrough in Nepal!
Leprosy patients used to need two surgeries on each leprosy-affected hand; and between each surgery, fingers needed to be rested for 3 months. But a surgeon at The Leprosy Mission’s Anandaban Hospital in Nepal, Dr. Indra Napit, has developed a new process to carry out reconstructive hand surgeries by combining two surgeries into one. Now the hospital admission time is reduced significantly — from 6-8 months to 8 weeks.
It means Anandaban Hospital can have greater capacity to treat more leprosy patients and continue to offer a lifeline to people like Sita.
“It is a real joy to see the happiness in the faces of leprosy patients after surgery,” Dr Indra said.
