Your prayers and support are so important for people who live with the constant fear of violence. Like Lowali. He describes what happened the day this fear became reality.
“Three years ago, I was at home with my family when armed men attacked our village. They broke into my house and shot me and killed two of my neighbours… The bullet went through my left thigh and it passed through to the other side of my leg.
“I was taken to a small hospital near my village where they sewed me up. But after a few days my toes started to dry out and looked dead. So I went to a bigger hospital where they told me that the bullet had damaged my artery and my foot was necrotic. So they had to amputate my foot.”
Because of you, Lowali was able to receive crutches. Without them, he would not be able to move around. His left leg cannot bear any weight at all. In time, he will go to The Leprosy Mission’s Chanchaga Hospital to be fitted for a prosthetic leg.
Lowali maintains a positive outlook and has a special message for Australian supporters like you: “Many thanks for your help and I pray that God will bless you!”
With ongoing violent attacks on villages in Zamfara, please continue to pray for:
- The safety of Lowali, his wife and four children. Also, for the safety of other families of people affected by leprosy or disability
- The safety and security of all The Leprosy Mission field staff in Nigeria
- That field staff can continue their ministry in diagnosing and treating people affected by leprosy and disability despite the danger and conflict.
Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting people like Lowali, who are the innocent victims of conflict.
